Q: After three decades, has the conservative movement triumphed?
Yes: After fighting the good fight for so long, the movement has begun to have impact.
Agreeing with TS. Eliot that there only are temporary victories and defeats in life, I believe that the American conservative movement politically has triumphed -- for the time being.
Whether we consider how far conservatives have come since 1946, when theirs was a political philosophy that dared not speak its name, or even since 1980, when conservative Ronald Reagan was elected president for the first time, no word other than "triumph" will do.
