Mar. 20 -- Seven years of running and growing what was once one of the smaller regional Native corporations had taken its toll, leaving Michael Brown, president of Chugach Alaska Corp., with a case of burnout.

A few weeks ago when one of Brown's closest friends died in a car accident just weeks after retirement, he realized that there was more to life than running a corporation. On Thursday, Brown left Chugach amicably, he said.

Chugach named a longtime Brown associate -- Dusty Kazer, vice president of operations -- as the corporation's interim president.

Brown assumed Chugach's top slot in 1992 ...
