The study of big business: lessons from the past.

Many studies were conducted on the nature and origins of big business in the early twentieth century. Comparative analysis was found valuable for such studies. Furthermore, most of these studies were based on reports from individual firms in the US, UK and Germany. One approach used in such studies was Alfred Chandler's typology of big business. This modern approach was linked with traditional approaches by the extent to which big business is viewed as good business.
