The UK government's Health and Safety Executive (HSE), is to fund a one-year study into the health risks associated with portable and handheld PCs. The research will be conducted by ergonomic consultancy, System Concepts Limited (SCL), and will investigate not only risks due to prolonged use of display screens but also risks associated with extended working hours and the increased danger of personal attack and theft resulting from carrying expensive equipment.
