Ferrocarril Mexicano (Ferromex), a 5,000-mile privatized railway operated by the joint venture of Grupo Mexico and Union Pacific, has signed a five-year, $48.6 million contract with MotivePower Industries subsidiary MPI de Mexico for the maintenance of 59 locomotives at MPI's San Luis Potosi facility. The contract replaces one that MPI held with the Mexican National Railroad prior to privatization.
