Just how risky is plant genetic engineering? As St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Bill Lambrecht's articles showed, people around the world argue that question, but not in St. Louis.
Perhaps transfixed by the possibility that St. Louis could become the capital of a worldwide industry, the local news media have ignored the recent spate of scientific papers showing unexpected problems with genetic engineering. Instead, they tended to go along with Monsanto's spin on the question.
