Shredded cheese category brand managers are thankful that consumers continue to be too lazy to shred their own cheese for at-home applications. In 1998, retail shredded cheese sales were 363 million lbs, an increase of 3.0% as compared to 1997, according to ACNielsen. Dollar sales were 1.4 billion, or a 5.8% increase.
These strong sales and volume growth rates lend credence to the growing importance of convenience in today's time-deprived world.
