The word "finesse" doesn't usually appear in the lexicon of today's first-person action games, most of which reward impulse rather than intellect. Not so with Thief: The Dark Project, Looking Glass Studios' refreshingly clever action adventure.
Unlike other first-person shooters, where the primary goal is to blaze a bloody trail to the next level, Thief stresses a more measured application of force. It's a game in which strategy and stealth prevail, while raising a ruckus can quickly lead to defeat.
