Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Your Computer, Part 6
Would you like to learn more about tennis or write to a pen pal in another country? You can do it all on your computer! To get or send information, a computer must "talk" to another computer. Computers "link up" or talk to each other by using a telephone line and a modem.
How a Modem Works
A modem changes computer language into sound so that messages can be sent through a telephone line. When the sounds reach the modem of the other computer, it changes the sounds back into computer language. Your message appears on the screen of that computer!
