Introduction
Balance, or postural control, is maintained through a dynamic integration of internal forces, external forces, and factors involving the environment. In order for postural control to occur, the individual must maintain the center of gravity (COG) within stability limits. Stability limits are described as positions in which a person's COG is allowed to pass beyond the base of support causing a fall.
