SACRAMENTO, April 8 (UPI)
Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, have given California state libraries more than $11 million to buy computers, Internet access and training in under-served, low-income communities.
The grant is earmarked for libraries serving communities with significant poverty, and more than 500 public libraries throughout the state will be eligible to apply for funding.
The Gates Learning Foundation says it will supply up to seven computers with associated printers and networking equipment in each library, as well as three years of technical support and training for library staff.
