The way that Dr. Kurt Stirnemann figures it, "high performance milling"-as Boston Digital Corp. self-describes its mix of speed and accuracy-fits nicely with the EDM business.
Stirnemann is CEO of EDM world leader Agie Charmilles Group, which forms the manufacturing technology group of Georg Fischer A.G. (Zurich, Switzerland). Last week he acquired Boston Digital from a unit of Charterhouse Group International (New York, N.Y.) for an unspecified amount.
Venture-capital investor Charterhouse had purchased BD from its two founders in May 1993 and tried to expand it into broader, downscale markets.
