Two new suburban Italian restaurants are subliminal reminders that nothing is so certain as change. Cafe Stefano occupies the small Palatine building that for many years was Amourette. Babaluci Italian Eatery, the first branch of a popular Bucktown spot, replaces La Donna Nord, which was an offshoot of an Andersonville place, in a Hoffman Estates strip mall.
Cafe Stefano (2275 Rand Road, Palatine; 847/359-6220), no relation to the Stefani family of restaurants, offers owner/chef Stefano Panozzo's sophisticated yet rustic cooking in a cozy setting.
