The Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition No. 314/94 has passed an interim order on 18th February, 1999 permitting to raise the Sardar Sarovar Dam upto EL 85 Metre excluding humps required for the safety of the dam. The Government of Gujarat has accordingly resumed the work on Sardar Sarovar Dam from 19th February, 1999.
