Apr. 17 -- EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- The ongoing strike at Fleming Cos. food warehouse here prompted the corporation to decide Friday to permanently close the East Peoria facility.
The East Peoria food distribution center will be added to the corporation's list of seven other centers to be shuttered.
Locally, the decision will affect about 50 nonunion and 70 union employees.
Company spokesman Shane Boyd said the strike caused significant additional expense for the corporation.
