The French multinational waste management group, SITA, reported an operating income of FF1,407 million ($238.6 million) which was some 84.2% up on the previous year. After tax and exceptional items, SITA reported an increase in consolidated group net income of 1.7% to FF303 million for the year ended 31st December, 1998. The group's 1998 consolidated turnover was FF17,350.70 million, an increase of 59.4% from 1997, following the first consolidation of the businesses acquired from Browning-Ferris Industries Inc.
