SAN FRANCISCO, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The pre-operative use of Bactroban(R) Nasal (mupirocin calcium ointment, 2%, SmithKline Beecham), a broad-spectrum, topical antibiotic, significantly decreases the risk of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) nosocomial infections among surgical patients, according to a new study reported today at the annual meeting of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiologists of America.
