Joseph Beuys's monumental stacked-felt Fonds, currently on view at the Dia Center in New York, assuage an author sometimes resistant to the late artist's shamanistic legend.
On the way to see work by Beuys I usually feel as I do when about to take medicine that is going to do me good. I feel I mustn't miss it, but I don't look forward to it.
