The first Kosovan refugees to come to the United Kingdom under the United Nations' humanitarian evacuation plans will soon be on their way, Home Secretary Jack Straw announced today.

Some 120 mainly women and children are expected to arrive in the next few days. The Government is also expecting a further request from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees to accept 18 medical cases with 121 dependants.
