Majority of Germans reject pope as head of the church
Fifty-four percent of all Germans no longer find John Paul II acceptable as head of the Roman Catholic church, according to a recent poll published in the national news magazine Focus. The poll found that 33 percent of German Catholics reject John Paul as head of the church.
The same poll found that 81 percent of all Germans and 76 percent of Catholics think John Paul is out of step with the times as a moral leader.
