Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] germplasm lines HC95-24MB (Reg. no. GP-271, PI 604463) and HC95-15MB (Reg. no. GP-272, PI 604464) were released jointly in March 1998 by the USDAARS and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center as insect-resistant germplasm lines with improved insect resistance and good agronomic characteristics.
Both HC95-24MB and HC95-15MB are selections from the cross `Hobbit 87' x HC83-123-9. Hobbit 87 is a phytophthora root rot resistant [MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSION NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII], determinate semidwarf cultivar (4) and HC83-123-9 is an insect resistant germplasm line from the cross, `Pixie' x PI 229358 (1,3).
