Apr. 24 -- ORANGE, Calif. -- It's been nine months since Bergen Brunswig Corp., the Orange-based distributor of drugs and medical supplies, got the bad news: A federal judge in Washington, D.C., had decided to block Cardinal Health Inc.'s planned $2.4 billion takeover of Bergen.
For Bergen, an old-line wholesaler that found itself being squeezed by the changes sweeping the health-care industry, the proposed deal with Cardinal had looked like a lifesaver.
