When the planned 46% rise in the cellular phone airtime tariff, which was originally schedule to be effected as from 11 March 1999, will actually take place is still not very clear as yet, despite the fact that cellular phone operators cannot wait to see that happen. Although the month of April has started, cellular phone operators still have to use the old airtime tariff, which is stipulated in Decree of the Minister of Tourism, Post, and Telecommunications No. 27/PR.301/MPPT-98, except for phone calls whose airtime rates are adjusted to the fixed telephone tariff.
