If you are in the grocery industry you should know the name Timmons "Tim" Malone Carpenter. If you don't know the name, the names of some of his former companies such as Tricon Trading, Marc World, Inc., Preferred Trading and Lilly Packing Co. may be more familiar to you. Since the '80s, Carpenter and his associates have closed a string of businesses leaving creditors with balances totaling in excess of $50 million.
