American Management Systems (AMS) announced today that the Mississippi State Tax Commission abruptly canceled AMS's work on the State Tax Automated Revenue System (STARS). The project, which went into effect in December 1993, was on track to go live with a major component, the Withholding Tax System, on May 3, 1999.
