The Secretary-General of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines since early 1994, Dr. Ardakani is a key pragmatist and cousin of President Khatami. The president of the Chamber is Ali Naghi Khamooshi. A former deputy minister of mines and metals, Dr. Ardekani has also been a senior advisor to the foreign minister. His wife, another cousin of President Khatami, has a high position in Bank Markazi.
