Indiana's top agribusinesses
Agribusiness is big business in Indiana. Although the state is only 38th in size, Indiana's 62,000 farms contribute to a 14th-place rank in agricultural production and 10th in agricultural exports.
"Agricultural and food systems in our state account for about $16.5 billion worth of income to Hoosiers," reports Joseph Kernan, lieutenant governor and commissioner of agriculture. "Indiana is an important player in the world agricultural economy," Kernan says. And, he notes, "agribusiness is a complex, technologically advanced industry in our state."
