Why does Star Wars mean so much to so many people?
We invited one writer and seven contemporary artists to take the myth and run with it
For me it was never the Force. For me it was Han Solo riding in like the cavalry behind Luke Skywalker's X-wing fighter at the last minute, laser-blasting those Imperial TIE fighters and shouting, "You're all clear, kid! Now let's blow this thing and go home," so that young Skywalker, as Darth Vader liked to call him, could put his proton torpedo into the small thermal exhaust shaft of the Death Star - the exhaust shaft all the other rebel fighter pilots couldn't get their torpedoes into.
