DENVER, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- GenoPlex, Inc. today announced that it has received a Small Business Innovation Research Phase I grant from the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The grant provides $132,000 in funding for the initial characterization of a novel gene called tkr-1. This gene has been shown to postpone diseases of aging in roundworms. The grant supports ongoing research by GenoPlex that could lead to screens for novel drugs to postpone a variety of aging-related diseases in humans.
