May 5 -- Placerville-based El Dorado Savings Bank has received a research firm's highest ranking among savings and loans in the West.
"It says they've combined profitability with a well-managed balance sheet," Andy Hunt, a researcher with SNL Securities of Charlottesville, Va., said of the achievement. "They've kept cost low, got good returns on earnings and avoided problem assets. They have a well-disciplined operating policy."
