Ball pits are popular recreational equipment located within admission-free play areas at fast food restaurants. These ball pits were created as safe, secure play environments to entertain and occupy children during their meal. Padded floors and pits of small plastic balls reduce the risk of serious injury when compared to traditional outdoor playgrounds (see Figure 1).
