New York City has a problem with Chuck E. Cheese. The city's zoning code has branded the combination entertainment emporium/pizza parlor something of an outlaw.
If you know anything about Chuck E. Cheese, you might find this hard to imagine. The Chuckster's franchised outlets operate in 44 states. They are a favorite of suburban soccer moms for kids birthday parties, at least until the kids get old enough to demand Spice Girls-themed bashes.
But here in New York City it's hard to find Mr. Cheese. He's got one outlet in Staten Island. After arduous negotiating by Chuck's lawyers and the city, another site is planned for Queens.
