INDIANAPOLIS, May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- American Trans Air, Inc. (ATA), the principal subsidiary of Amtran, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMTR), today reported its April 1999 traffic results.

System-wide for April 1999, compared with a year ago: revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 1.5% to 881.1 million; available seat miles (ASMs) increased 0.3% to 1.20 billion; and total block hours flown increased 4.1% to 14,227.

In scheduled service for April 1999, as compared with April 1998: RPMs increased 14.6% to 537.9 million; ASMs increased 14.1% to 677.3 million; and passenger load factor increased 0.3 points to 79.4%.
