May 6 -- A longtime bowling alley has packed away the pins and boxed up those snazzy multi-colored shoes, at least for a while.
Fairfield Lanes, a fixture along Highway 99 since 1960, closed its lanes last Friday
for remodeling. When it reopens in August, it'll have new owners and a new name: Strike City.
Steve Gilbert, whose family-owned business, Gilbert Enterprises, is taking over ownership of the bowling alley, said the 39-year-old facility at 1170 Highway 99N needed "a new skin."
New carpeting, tables and other improvements are planned, and ramps will be built near the front and back ...
