In a business where just one of 100 medical device inventions make it to the marketplace, Mark Frantz knows the importance of plenty of good ideas.
The president of Frantz Medical Group Ltd. hopes he'll find those ideas through a new joint venture with BioMec Inc., a Cleveland biomedical engineering start-up.
The new company, dubbed Frantz-BioMec, will expand Frantz Medical's effort to unearth and develop products for minimally invasive surgery - - procedures in which doctors make tiny incisions for reduced blood loss, lower medical costs, faster patient recovery and shorter hospital stays.
