Decades ago the petroleum industry here regarded natural gas as a nuisance by-product of oil production and burned it off.Now with proven reserves of 18 trillion cubic feet, natural gas has led to the growth of several heavy gas-based industries including six world scale ammonia plants and five methanol plants, reports CANA (April 21, 1999):
The latest addition is the Atlantic LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) plant, the first of its kind in the country, which in April began exports to the U.S. and Spain.
