DENVER and MINNEAPOLIS, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- A key element of the proposed merger between New Century Energies (NYSE: NCE) and Northern States Power Co. (NYSE: NSP) is proceeding faster than anticipated, as the companies today announced that special shareholder meetings to approve the merger will be held in June instead of September, as earlier expected.
Bill D. Helton, chairman and chief executive officer of NCE, and James J. Howard, president, chairman and chief executive officer of NSP, said the shareholder meetings will take place on Monday, June 28.
