May 26 -- A natural gas transportation company headed by the former chairman of the Kansas Democratic Party is being accused of reneging on an agreement to reduce rates to the state's largest gas utility.

Kansas Gas Service, in a lawsuit filed in Johnson County District Court, is making the accusation against Kansas Pipeline Co., a Lenexa company. Kansas Gas Service is seeking damages, alleging fraud and breach of contract, and no longer wants to be bound by its contract with the company.
