May 26 -- The National Association of Counties will hold its 2007 annual convention in Richmond, bringing between 5,000 and 7,000 people to the area.

Henrico County Manager Virgil R. Hazelett told the Board of Supervisors the news last night at the board's work session. Board Chairwoman Patricia S. O'Bannon led a move last year to gain the support of area localities and the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission in seeking the convention.
