Color was the foremost trend at Lineapelle, the three-day leather, synthetics and components trade fair held in Bologna, Italy, May 5-7. For spring/summer 2000, exhibitors agreed women will want comfortable footwear made with the softest materials.
Although for the past two years the Italian leather goods industry has been suffering from a stagnant economy, heavy fiscal pressure and increasing production costs, Lineapelle organizers were pleased with a 1.32 percent increase in visitors from last year, totaling more than 31,000. While the number of U.S. visitors was slightly down from last year, Lineapelle has maintained its attraction for international buyers.
