Jazz lovers and historians recently observed what would have been the 100th birthday of one of the world's most prolific composers and bandleaders, Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington.
The talents of Ellington, who put the country In A Sentimental Mood and implored folks to Take The A Train, were the focus of lectures, performances and other special events in New York City, Washington, D.C. and other cities across the country on his recent birthday, April 29th.
Among the many tributes were special concerts presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
