May 28 -- LANDS DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE STATES CASE ON LAND LEASES: Jim Mackley, the state Department of Lands employee who is accusing the department of letting politics get in the way of the Constitution, thinks he is making progress in his personnel case.

Mackley's one-week suspension with pay has been extended indefinitely while he continues to negotiate with officials from the Boise office. Mackley met with Jay Biladeau, one of the department's assistant directors, on Wednesday.

"I feel like they were listening more and understanding more," Mackley said.
