May 31 -- Environmental officials are breathing a sigh of relief now that Central Florida has survived the month of May with no smog trouble.
June 1 is the traditional start of the wet season in Florida, when it rains nearly every afternoon.
"When those rain showers come in, they pretty much wash everything from the air," said Caroline Shine, who heads Central Florida's air program at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
