Beanie Babies, yo-yos, and Pokemon continued on top of the best-seller list in San Francisco Bay area toy stores in March. But talk was mainly about Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Particular interest centered on new items due from Lego.
Beanie Babies have largely completed the shift from around $5.95 to $6.99, the upper limit suggested by Ty, the manufacturer, with demand remaining high and supplies low. Supplies were even lower for their recently-added big brothers, Beanie Buddies. One retailer described the Buddies as a "great incredible value" at $9.98, although they may "dribble in even slower than the Babies."
