Jun. 3 -- PONCE INLET, Fla. -- With the Atlantic Ocean eroding away Lighthouse Point Park, federal engineers will start a $4 million armoring project on the north jetty this fall.
The Army Corps of Engineers will oversee construction of a granite-rock revetment, measuring between 800 and 1,000 feet, from the park beach west toward the Intracoastal Waterway.
Scheduled to start in September, the project could take a year to complete, said Tim Murphy, Army Corps projects manager. Some areas of the park may be closed during the construction.
