Jun. 2 -- Gov. Bill Owens announced Tuesday that the state will make available $60,000 in disaster relief to Otero County residents whose homes were damaged by recent flooding.
Otero is one of the Colorado counties that received a presidential disaster declaration as a result of the flooding April 28-May 2. The declaration gives counties potential access to funds provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
State funding for Otero County will come from the Disaster Emergency Fund. It will be used to defray the cost of reopening 40 units of empty housing on a former Air Force Base for people who haven't ...
