INTRODUCTION
In a paper on the mineralogy of the Gold Quarry mine, Eureka County, Nevada (Jensen et al., 1995), one of the authors (MCJ), noted, "It is the authors' opinion that this specific region of Nevada probably contains the most complex and noteworthy mineralogical occurrences in the entire state." With the official opening of the Meikle (pronounced Meekull) mine little more than one year later, this statement has proven to be true in a remarkable way.
