May 31 -- FORT BELKNAP AGENCY, Mont. -- Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt floated down the Missouri River and onto the Fort Belknap Indian reservation in northern Montana to observe the Assiniboine Sioux and Gros Ventre tribes' buffalo herd and blackfooted ferret reintroduction program.
His trip the weekend of May 21 was designed to help him retrace the steps of Lewis and Clark who traveled through the area in from 1804-06.
