HARRISBURG, Pa., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge today announced that Pennsylvania State Police will hold "Career Fairs" this month at five locations across the Commonwealth to promote opportunities for women.

"State Police did not even admit women into its enlisted ranks until 1972," said Gov. Ridge. "Since then, women have made significant contributions to our State Police, but we've not had as many female applicants as we would like. The State Police only will benefit from more female troopers. And these new fairs are designed to recruit them."
