(CW HENDERSON PUBLISHER www.newsfile.com) -- After a third German measles outbreak in four years, North Carolina's Union County health officials are asking state officials for money to vaccinate all new Hispanic residents.
Union health officials confirmed 10 cases of rubella, or German measles - the county's largest outbreak in more than 20 years. All cases were centered in the growing Hispanic community, said health department director Lorey White.
White wants the state Department of Health and Human Services to allow Union County to hold immunization clinics at places such as poultry processing plants where many immigrants work. "It would make sense ...
